NYX Sugar Trip Squad - First Impression

Hello ladies,

Being a makeup junkie that I am, I sign up for the NYX Professional Makeup Newsletter. And at the end of October I get a newsletter that said :

" Wanna act out and get rewarded for it? Show us how Halloween looks to you! Make it marvellous. Make it horrifying. And make it better than the others' - to win a surprise holiday must-have set and eternal glory on our Instagram! Just hashtag your result on Instagram with #nyxcosmeticshalloween and #skilled. We pick the winner on October 31st. Don't miss it! "

So I did, with no hope of actually winning, because I saw my competition and it was fierce. But surprise, surprise, on 1st of November I got the message that I was one of the winners, and that I will receive a surprise holiday must-have set.  You can imagine my excitement, right?

This is what came in the mail two days ago, the Sugar Trip Squad Highlighting and Shadow Palettes. This is a first impression article and I will publish a more informed opinion and a look, after I have time to play around with them. Now, let's see the goodies.

First thing I noticed was the lack of labeling on the shadows, no names, not even a number, which makes it a bit hard to refer to them. You do find a small diagram on the back of the palette, where the shadows are simply numbered from 1 to 12.  Moving past that, the pallets are made out of cardboard and do not come with a mirror attached, but you get a good amount of shadow/highlighter in each palette.

The shadow palette is divided in to eye shadows and pressed pigments (which they do not recommend using on the eyes). The pigmentation is really good, although they are a bit dusty, so make sure you tap of the excess of the brush. They swatch a bit patchy, so I need to play more with them to tell you how they apply and blend.

The highlighter pallet has no restrictions, is formulated wonderfully and swatches beautifully, the color selection is suited for all skin types or tastes. You can choose from a light shimmery lilac with pink glitter to a creamy rich bronze.

All in all, although they have some minuses, the amount of product and the pigmentation really impressed me. Can't wait to start playing and testing them out further.

Kisses, Julia
